A Marshall man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly cut locks on storage units.

According to a Marshall Police Report, on May 16, a witness called the department and said someone had cut locks and stolen items from several storage units at Banks Storage in the 800 block of North Lexington Avenue (U.S. Highway 65).

Officers reported to the scene and noted five locks had been cut, and some of the storage units looked as if they had been searched through. Later that day, the witness contacted the police department again and said a subject was cutting into locks again at the storage facility. Officers responded and located Christopher Peck inside Storage Unit 58. Peck said the storage unit was unlocked, and he was just looking around. The officer also noted a lock to another unit was cut. Investigation led to Peck being detained.

During his interview, authorities say Peck admitted he used bolt cutters to “pop locks” on storage units. Peck said he searched units, but only took items from one unit.

Court documents say Peck is charged with seven counts of a felony for burglary in the second degree and misdemeanors for stealing and property damage. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

Peck was arraigned on May 18. His next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at Saline County Circuit Court.
