On May 19, 2022, Saline County Career Center (SCCC) Educators Rising received a generous donation from the Malta Bend Memorial American Legion Post #558.

A press release says the donation of $3,000 will help support Educators Rising members competing at the Educators Rising National Conference and Competition June 24-27, 2022, in Washington, D.C.

Educators Rising members competed at the state level in March 2022. For their competitions, members shadowed various educators for a minimum of eight hours, interviewed their selected educator, created a 5- to 7-minute presentation, and answered questions from judges. By placing in the Top 10 at state, members were able to qualify for the national competition.

Several students placed at the state competition, qualifying for the National Conference:

In Exploring Support Services:
-1st Place Maddison Zdybel
-2nd Place Liberty Gotmer

In Exploring Administration Careers:
-1st Place Taylor Boyd
-2nd Place Izabella Chevalier

In Exploring Non-Core Subject Areas:
-1st Place Lillian Wade
-4th Place Tinley Stockman

Educators Rising is a national organization and a community-based movement, in which students can explore career opportunities in education and showcase the skills they have gained in their education and training programs. The SCCC chapter is open to students in grades 9-12.

Businesses interested in becoming a sponsor this year can contact Danielle Callanan, Educators Rising Teacher Leader, at (660) 886-6958.
