Although weather conditions were less than ideal, numerous area residents participated as volunteers placing U.S. flags on gravesites at the Missouri State Veterans’ Cemetery in Higginsville on Thursday, May 26.
Cemetery Director Carita Trent thanked all who took part in the annual event prior to Memorial Day.
Trent is asking for volunteers to help pick up the flags from the 5,000 gravesites on Tuesday, May 31- weather permitting.
The cemetery will hold a Memorial Day Program in the committal shelter area at the cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 30.
Trent says, “Remember to bring your lawn chair, umbrella (to shade yourself from the sun) and water.”
