A Windsor man charged with murder is due in court.
A release from Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders says on February 24, his office was informed of a potential homicide that had occurred within its jurisdiction approximately 11 hours earlier.
Authorities say an investigation revealed a confrontation had occurred near the Pettis, Benton and Henry County lines (Windsor area). Occupants of two vehicles are believed to have pulled over in the area of County Line Road just inside Pettis County. The incident turned into an armed confrontation, which resulted in a single shot to the head of one of the occupants. The body of 41-year-old James R. “J.R.” Fannon was later dumped in Henry County.
The investigation led to the arrest of Mark Alan Fielder.
Court documents say Fielder is charged with felonies for first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree assault. Bond is fixed at $500,000 cash or surety.
Fielder was indicted by a Grand Jury on March 9, and pleaded not guilty and waived formal arraignment on March 21. His next hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
