So what is possibly going to constructed at Marshall Junction in the future? It’s not a definite yet, but a Regional Welcome Center is in the works.

At the meeting of the Develop Saline county Advisory Board on Thursday, July 14, Marshall-Saline Development Corporation (MSDC) Executive Director Cydney Mayfield said funding for the project still needs approval in Washington D.C.

Mayfield says the hope is a ground-breaking ceremony can be held soon.

Commissioners explained it will be a county-owned facility. Mayfield said they are still working on how the facility will be staffed.

It was asked if the county has applied for any funding from the state of Missouri through tourism for this. Mayfield said they are awaiting the final signed document before moving forward with pursuing funding.

Mayfield explained the plan is for the Regional Welcome Center to built on the southeast corner of the junction where the old MFA gas station and restaurant used to be located.
