During the Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works Meeting on Thursday, September 1, Doug Root, Electric Distribution Director informed the board of the need to replace two reclosers at Substation C.

The current reclosers are oil-filled and have been there for 40 to 50 years. Root would like to replace them with vacuum reclosers at a cost of $17,000 each.

Root also told the board of the need to do maintenance and replace insulators and a potential transformer at the sub-station.

The board approved the recommendation.

In another action item before the board, Root reported on the update to the electric system study. This is done every five years to look at potential future growth and identify problems with the existing system.

Root recommended Toth and Associates to do the study.

$80, 000 had been budgeted for the study, but Root recommended that the cost not exceed $50,000.

The board decided to table this until the next meeting.
