The Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, will convene at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) Campus on Wednesday, October 12. Oral arguments will be held at the ballroom of the Elliott Student Union beginning at 9:30 a.m. A three-judge panel will hear arguments in four cases. After oral arguments, the judges will take time to discuss the court system and take general questions from the audience.

Although the court usually convenes in Kansas City, for more than twenty years it has held dockets in several counties in its jurisdiction. That area encompasses all of northwest Missouri and most of Central Missouri. By holding the oral arguments outside of Kansas City, the court can provide individuals with an opportunity to observe a part of the judicial system they normally don’t see. UCM has been a host site for many years, enabling students, faculty, staff and others the opportunity to learn more about the appeals process and interact with judges who hear the court cases.
