There were several local races in the KMMO listening area that were competitive in the November 8 election.
In Saline County, a question approving the Saline County Ambulance District to reset the district’s tax levy rate from 17.8 cents per $100 assessed valuation to 40 cents per $100 assessed valuation passed with 2,425 yes votes and 1,721 no votes.
In Carroll County a tax levy for the Golden Age Nursing Home District was approved for an increase from 10.72 cents per $100 dollars assessed valuation to 30.56 cents per $100 assessed valuation was approved by a vote of 63 to 33.
In Howard County Deborah Riekhof was elected Prosecuting Attorney over Frank Flashpohler by a vote of 2,217 to 1,539.
In Pettis County there were three competitive races. Roger Reedy was elected State Representative for District 57 over William Wayne by a count of 2,196 votes to 347. In the District 52 State Representative race, Bradley Pollitt defeated Rene Vance by a count of 7,805 votes to 2,583. The Prosecuting Attorney race was won by Phillip Sawyer over Sam Kempton by a count of 8,519 votes to 4,454. Also in Pettis County the Good Samaritan Care Center Tax Levy proposition, increasing the tax rate from 10.52 cents per $100 dollars valuation to 20 cents per $100 assessed valuation failed with 118 no votes and 86 yes votes.
