The Carrollton Town Council met recently and discussed ARPA Funds to complete facilities near the park ball field.

Park Superintendent Russ Mayden asked the city about the final location of the new animal shelter. Three locations were suggested: parallel to the parking lot in front of the VFW, on the north fence line and directly behind the park’s mower building facing east. After a lengthy discussion the council approved a location by the north fence, running in an east-west direction.

Mayden also discussed the park restroom project with the council. The project will include three-stall restrooms, concession stand and press box. Mayden stated that there are no costs for the addition but has offers to take out the current concession stand/press box. The Little League has offered to assist with labor for the project. Mayden also stated that material prices have come down. In addition some of the bleachers have problems and need to be replaced, but could be done with donations, according to Mayden.

Administrative assistant Terry Bell pointed out that ARPA funds that would cover the cost do not go through the budget.

In other news from the meeting, the council approved an ordinance to accept the sidewalk grant of $196,035.00 from the Missouri Transportation Commission for Center Park Road, East Sixth Street and the Aquatic Center access road and approved the purchase of new security cameras for City Hall at a cost of $2,400.00 plus a maintenance fee of $40.00 per month.
