
The University of Missouri Extension Business Development Program recognized State Fair Community College’s (SFCC) Missouri Small Business Development Center (MOSBDC) and its director Kelly Asbury for several accomplishments at its recent professional development conference.
SFCC MOSBDC and Asbury received recognition for placing in two Top 5 categories, Greatest Impact Generation: Business Starts and Highest Number of Counseling Hours. The MOSBDC at SFCC received one of five Top Greatest Impact Generation: Capital Funding awards and one of four Overall Performance Center Awards for creatively serving clients, building relationships with stakeholders and working to enhance the Missouri SBDC presence in the college’s program.
Asbury also received her five-year service award as SFCC’s MOSBDC director. Asbury is responsible for providing business consulting, access to training and resources to help Missourians identify and develop ideas to successfully start, manage and expand businesses. SFCC’s MOSBDC serves citizens in Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis and Saline counties in the KMMO listening area.
SFCC’s center has assisted clients in acquiring just under $38.5 million in loans and capital for creating many new jobs, starting new businesses, counseling entrepreneurs and small businesses as well as providing training for participants since opening.
