A Sedalia woman charged with drug-related felonies in Pettis County after a traffic stop on January 24, 2023 has been indicted by a grand jury.

According to the Sedalia Police Department, the Crime Resolution Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Angela Barber-Cox. The traffic stop was the result of a joint drug investigation with the Johnson County Crime Resolution Team.

Barber-Cox’s license was reportedly expired. Officers deployed a K9 unit, which detected the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle discovered a substantial amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

Court documents say Barber-Cox was charged with two felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree.

The grand jury indictment was filed Thursday, March 2, 2023 and Barber-Cox has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
