Marshall City Councilman Leon Thompson attended the meeting of the Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works and pitched an idea to potentially put the city in a better financial situation.

The city took out a $1.7 million loan from MMU for the demolition of the Marshall Habilitation Center. Thompson brought up the plans for the Marshall School Board to potentially build on that site.

Thompson’s pitch was to have the board consider the remainder of the loan as an investment into the community to help the city’s financial situation.

There is about $1.3 million remaining on the loan. The board did not take any action and plan to consider the pitch in the future.
