The Knob Noster School District announced Thursday, April 6 that Adam Easterwood will be departing Knob Noster High School (KNHS) to take the Superintendent of Schools position at Leeton R-X School District effective July 1, 2023. During his nineteen years as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and building level administrator, Knob Noster High School has experienced comprehensive academic success in route to becoming one of the nation’s premier military-connected high schools.

On Wednesday, a new recognition, the Missouri Purple Star School District Award was awarded to Knob Noster by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. For four of the last five years, Knob Noster High School has been named the top rural High School in Missouri for college and career readiness by US News and World Report.

Easterwood has been instrumental in developing academic programs in robotics, cybersecurity, aviation, computer science, and a robust Advanced Placement program. This year, the KNHS cybersecurity team and robotics team each rank among the top one percent in the nation. Likewise, under Easterwood’s direction, with KNHS adding boys’ and girls’ soccer programs, girls wrestling, golf, and a revitalization of boys and girls cross-country. The athletic programs were able to capture MRVC All-Sports crown in 2019-2020 and a Girls Track State Championship in 2018.

Easterwood began his teaching and coaching career at Knob Noster in the fall semester 2005. He completed his Masters in Administration at the University of Central Missouri in 2007 and his Specialist in Education Leadership for William Woods University in 2016. He is currently completing his Doctoral Degree in Education Leadership at William Woods.
