
A Boonville man has been charged with felonies for promotion and possession of child pornography.
According to a probable cause statement, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit received a tip on September 6, 2022 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The complaint was received from Kik, a mandated reporter. reporting that a user had sent multiple images of material to another user and a file involving an under age 14-year-old female involving in a sexual act.
Connection records indicated that the account was allegedly linked to Michael Wooters.
On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the Boonville Police department executed a search warrant on the defendant’s residence. Wooters allegedly admitted to being in a chat room where files were sent to him. Wooters also allegedly stated to saving the files and forwarding to other Kik users.
According to court documents, Wooters has been charged with felonies for promoting child pornography and possession of child pornography..
Bond has been set at $25,000.
