Born October 30, 1926,  outside of Concordia, he was the son of the late Arthur Kammeyer and Helena Kirchhoff Kammeyer. Raymond lived in Concordia his whole life with the exception of serving in the United States Army during World War II in Japan.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he was baptized November 14, 1926 and confirmed March 17, 1940.  His confirmation verse was “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  (John 14, verse 6) On September 21, 1947, he married Imogene Ruth Hagedorn who preceded him in death on October 15, 2017.   He was active in the Concordia community, serving on various boards at the church and in the community. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 5649, City of Concordia Alderman, the Concordia Fire Department and District for 31 years with 13 years as fire chief.  He also served on the Fire District Board after he retired from the fire department.   He started Kammeyer Electric along with his brother, Omar, in 1950.  He enjoyed his three farms and planted over 3,000 trees on his Cole Camp farm.  He was quoted as saying a month ago, “If I had known I would see these trees grow this much, I would have planted more of them.” He loved to put a garden in the spring and always had award winning potatoes.  He also built 16 tower deer stands in which to hunt for himself, his sons and friends.  At age 94, he shot a nine point buck.  He could build anything in his mind and it would usually work.

Raymond is survived by two sons, Terry Kammeyer (Laurel) and Eddie Kammeyer (Linda) of Concordia; one daughter Judy Krause of Concordia; four grandchildren, Heather, Joel, Megan and Madison; and eight great-grandchildren Emerson, Walker, Oliver, Sawyer, Sullivan, Avery, Elias, and Peter with twin boys on the way next month.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Arthur Kammeyer Jr. and Omar Kammeyer; and three sisters, Esther Duensing, Elner Vaughn and Helen Hartl.
