The Saline County Career Center Future Business Leaders of America Chapter has received the Gold Chapter of the Year Award which is the highest honor bestowed to Missouri FBLA chapters. This is the first time in school history that the award application has been submitted by the chapter.

A chapter is ranked bronze, silver or gold based on its annual program of activities. A few categories of the application include; community service projects, such as for the March of Dimes, chapter recruitment events and member participation in Competitive Events. The chapter had to submit evidence of its events throughout the year which included photographing events, writing press releases and promoting FBLA on social media.

The Chapter of the Year Award was received at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Springfield on April 16 – 18, 2023. The chapter was also represented by eight qualifying members:
Michelle Linn- Introduction to Marketing,
Kaylee Guevara- Hospitality and Event Management,
Dianna Escarate- Hospitality and Event Management,
Amariana Smith- Introduction to FBLA, Serenity Perdomo- Introduction to FBLA,
Sydny Shivers- Introduction to Financial Math,
Holly Huston- Impromptu Speaking, and
Randy Vazquez- Introduction to Business Concepts.

The following students also qualified but were unable to attend the competition:
Kristine Morales- Introduction to Event Planning
Lupita Morales- Introduction to FBLA.

To qualify for SLC, the members had to study, practice and place in the top of their event categories at the District Leadership Conference.

Chapter history was made for a second time at SLC as Michelle Linn qualified for the National Leadership Conference by placing third in her event. The top four competitors in each category advance to the NLC, which is held in Atlanta, Georgia, June 27 – 30, 2023.
