
Jo-Dale Chevalier, 85, of Independence, MO, formerly of Miami, MO, passed away Wednesday May 17, 2023, at his home after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Malta Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Malta Bend Cemetery. Born August 4, 1937, in Miami, MO, he was the son of the late Gustave “Gussie” Chevalier and Vessie L. Rose Chevalier. On February 15, 1983, he married Gale Guffin Dudenhoeffer who preceded him in death on December 3, 2019. A lifelong farmer in Saline County, Jo-Dale loved farming, hunting and fishing with family and friends, talking with friends at the local bar, and his little buddies, Mari and Eli.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Chevalier and Peggy Chevalier; three grandchildren, Hannah Edwards, Lillie Edwards, and Major Edwards III; one great-granddaughter, Mariana Miles; honorary great-grandson, Eli Comer; one sister, Bonnie Boedeker; stepchildren, Kirk Dudenhoeffer (Francine), Claire Oser, William Dudenhoeffer (Diane) and Amy Cash; step-grandchildren, Melissa and Kayla Dudenhoeffer, Chad and Jared Oser, Gavin, Kendall and Morgan Cash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, grandparents and third wife, Jo-Dale was preceded in death by one son, Steven Chevalier; seven siblings, Uel Chevalier, Herman Chevalier, Russell “Duke” Chevalier, James Chevalier, Buddy Chevalier, Betty Coleman and Dora Narron; and his first wife and mother to his three children, Mary Carolyn Chevalier.
