The Sedalia Police Department was dispatched to help a suicidal man on Monday, May 22.
Officers arrived at the residence and encountered the subject outside of the residence with a knife to his throat, while threatening to kill himself if police tried to help.
Officers kept a safe distance and tried to de-escalate the situation. They attempted to negotiate with the subject, but he then began to take overt actions to injure himself.
Sedalia police deployed a taser and pepperball to prevent any self-harm.
Officers secured the subject and transported him to the hospital for treatment of self-inflicted wounds, along with a mental health evaluation.
