The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has announced Missouri’s 93rd state park at the Katy Trail Trailhead in Windsor.
The former Rock Island Spur of the Katy Trail will become the Rock Island Trail State Park. While the 47.5-mile spur is the open portion of the trail, another 156 miles will be under development and closed to the public.
Mayors and representatives from towns along the corridor spoke Friday, June 30, as did David Kelly, director of Missouri State Parks, and Dru Buntin, director of Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Park representatives provided updates on the trail’s development plan, which outlines its future use and development.
