Lexington City Administrator Mark O’Dell gave an update on the city’s new water treatment plant during the city council meeting on Tuesday, July 11.

O’Dell stated the plant which had been scheduled to begin operation in June experienced delays due to supply issues with the control system and a manufacturing error with the clarifier.

O’Dell stated the plant should be substantially completed by the end of August and staff will begin the process of starting the plant with different specifications due to water being sourced from wells instead of the Missouri River. The new plant replaces the existing plant that lies in the flood plain and was built in 1880.
