The 18th annual Missouri American Water MR340 is set to take place in August. Several checkpoints and paddlestops for the race are in the KMMO listening area.

There are 3 full moon weeks targeted for the race:

-Primary date is Aug. 1-4 (race check-in July 31)
-Secondary date is Aug. 29 – Sept. 1 (race check-in August 28)
-Tertiary date is September 26-29 (race check-in September 25)

The race could be postponed due to flooding or other safety issues.

The race starts in Kaw Point in Kansas City, and ends in St. Charles. The race flows through the KMMO listening area, with several stops and checkpoints for racers. The checkpoints in the KMMO listening area include Waverly and Glasgow. There are also Paddlestops in Lexington, Miami, Franklin Island, and Cooper’s Landing. Paddlestops are places with volunteers and safety boat presence, as well as food vendors.
