
Higginsville Police made contact with a subject on Wednesday, August 9 after witnessing suspicious behavior. During the course of the contact, it was discovered the subject was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and drug paraphernalia and was currently on felony probation in Missouri. After being detained the subject advised that he had consumed a large amount of meth and fentanyl to avoid being caught with it by the officers. The subject was transported to the hospital where he was evaluated and medically cleared before being transported to the Lafayette County Jail. The Lafayette County Prosecutor has charged the individual for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. This individual had just recently moved to Higginsville the previous month.
Approximately two hours after the first incident an officer was dispatched to a residence on 30th street for a disturbance. Upon his arrival an individual ran from the rear of the residence. During an investigation of the incident, it was learned that the subject who had run was a wanted fugitive on felony probation in Missouri with a no bond felony warrant. He had a prior history for alleged first degree felony assault with serious physical injury, kidnapping, known to resist arrest, known to be violent and known to be armed. The subject was from the Kansas City area and had connections with the subject that had been arrested in the earlier incident. Officers responded to the area to attempt to locate the subject. During the search a third subject was located in the same residence that the individual had fled from. This subject was also from the Kansas City area and a wanted felon with an active felony warrant who was on felony probation in the state of Missouri. This subject also had a history of allegedly resisting arrest, known to be armed, known to be violent, known to assault law enforcement and was a convicted sex offender. The individual was taken into custody for his felony warrant and transported to the Lafayette County Jail.
On Thursday, August 10, officers to a residence in reference to information received about the wanted subject who had escaped arrest on the previous night. The wanted subject was found hiding in the residence, taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Lafayette County Jail.
