A Boonville man has been charged several felonies after police conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday, August 29.

According to the Boonville Police Department, officers observed a vehicle driven by Austin Sturtevant driving in a careless and unsafe manner. The officer also knew that Sturtevant has a suspended driver’s license.

While conducting a traffic stop, the officer observed an object get tossed out of the driver’s side of the vehicle before stopping. The object was a sock containing a glass bowl used for smoking methamphetamine.

Authorities also found two small baggies of methamphetamine on the ground near the vehicle. Sturtevant reportedly tossed the items from his truck before being pulled over.

Court documents say Sturtevant is charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash or surety.

No court dates have been set at this time.
