The Kansas City Royals scored nine runs in the first inning on their way to a 12-5 win over the New York Yankees on Friday, September 29.

Kansas City jumped all over New York starter Carlos Rodon, who gave up eight runs on six hits without recording an out.

Jordan Lyles picked up the win despite giving up five runs over six innings.

Bobby Witt Jr. hit his 30th homer of the season and Salvador Perez had a three-hit day to lead the Kansas City offense. Edward Olivares also went deep.

The Royals had 15 hits in the game.
