The Sedalia Police Department arrested a New York man after an investigation in September.

According to the department, a complainant reported that $11,275 was stolen from his bank accounts, including $5,425 of which was stolen from branches in Sedalia. The money was stolen in July 2023 using forged checks.

Authorities review video and used facial recognition software to identify the suspect as Paul Zimmerman. Zimmerman was a New York resident, but recently moved to the Kansas City area.

Zimmerman allegedly has multiple arrests for stealing, forgery, and identity theft.

Court documents say Zimmerman has been charged with felonies for stealing and forgery. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
