A fatal crash occurred on I-70 in Lafayette County on Tuesday, October 10.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol say the crash occurred when a vehicle driven by 44-year-old David Jend traveled off the roadway, struck an embankment and a group of trees. Jend’s vehicle then caught fire.

Jend was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The accident occurred at 9:40 a.m. on Westbound I-70, .2 miles west of Missouri 23 in Lafayette County.
