Pettis County was awarded two Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grants by MoDOT for the widening of 32nd Street and Sacajawea Road for the addition of bike paths.
These grants will provide a boost to the county’s infrastructure, ensuring a brighter and more accessible future for the community.
Presiding Commissioner Bill Taylor commented, “These grants promote public safety, and the widening of Sacajawea Road will be a great benefit to Smith-Cotton High School as that is a heavily traveled area.”
The Transportation Alternatives Program is federally funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The grants operate on an 80/20 matching basis, where the federal funding component totals $724,147.20, and the local contribution stands at $181,036.80. The goal of the program is to expand transportation choices and enhance the transportation experience through categories of activities related to the surface transportation system. The TAP focuses on non-motorized transportation projects with an emphasis on bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
