60-k-lunch-debt

Marshall Public Schools Superintendent Caleb Petet reported to the board at last nights meeting the second reading about the $60,000 of unpaid student debt in the district. Petet explained he wanted the public to know that he was resourcing and looking for alternatives to address the issue.

Petet explained the enrollment for FREE and Reduced meals had decreased by at least 20 % post Covid, and steps the District has already taken in ensuring parents were informed. Petet explained one suggestion of adopting a debt collection policy other districts were implementing now for the next school year.

It was reported that Marshal Public Schools meal rates for breakfast is $1.15 and $2.45 for lunch, with 0.40 cents for each extra milk.
