
Two Slater residents have been charged with felonies relating to to a murder investigation from 2020.
According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, a Slater resident was reported missing in January 2021, and found deceased in February of that year.
Authorities interviewed two subjects, Deseray Heyer and Daniel Hamblen, and both parties implicated each other in the victim’s murder.
According to interviews from both sides, Heyer allegedly got into a physical altercation with the victim in late-2020, leaving the victim unresponsive.
Hamblen allegedly stabbed the victim in the throat, concealed her body, and attempted to hide the evidence. Hamblen repeatedly denied any involvement in the murder.
Heyer has been charged with felonies for murder in the first degree, armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, and burglary in the second degree. Hamblen has been charged with felonies for tampering with physical evidence, abandonment of a corpse, and burglary in the second degree. Neither parties were granted bond.
