The Saline County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a reported burglary at a vacant house on N. Main Street in Slater.

Upon arrival, the responding officer was directed to the suspect’s location by witnesses. The officer approached the suspect, later identified as Jeremy Pointer, and questioned him about the incident.

Pointer claimed he used to live in the house and was just checking for mail, but he appeared agitated and gave conflicting statements.

After conducting a search and speaking with witnesses, police did not find enough evidence to detain Pointer further. However, the officer obtained information from witnesses regarding missing items from the residence, including hunting equipment and electronics.

Later, the officer received a tip about Pointer being seen at another location, where Pointer was found and arrested.

Pointer was wearing a camouflage jacket matching the description of a missing item from the residence, which was seized as evidence.

Jeremy Pointer has been charged with Burglary in the 2nd degree.
