The Sedalia City Council approved several grant applications for the police and fire departments during its meeting on Monday, March 4.

The first grant was the 2024 Hero Fund First-responder Grant. The Sedalia Fire Department wants to apply for this grant in order to secure ballistic vests just in case of any active-shooter situations.

The next two grants were for the Sedalia Police Department. One was for Hazardous Moving Violations in the amount of $18,900, and the other was for DWI Enforcement in the amount of $10,700.

The council approved all three grant applications.

In other news, the board accepted a bid for roof restoration at the Public Works Garage. The bid was approved at $63,832.
