GAYLE K. DOBBINS GATES

Gayle K. Dobbins Gates, 86, of Gilliam, died Saturday, March 23, 2024 at The Living Center in Marshall.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Gilliam Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating.  Friends may call Wednesday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.  Memorials are suggested to Fitzgibbon Hospice or Gilliam Cemetery in care of Weiker Funeral Home.

Born May 15, 1937 in Mendon, she was the daughter of the late Theodore J. and Helen Fletcher Kahler.  On June 30, 1973 in Slater, she married John E. Dobbins, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1989.  On August 15, 2014, she married Carl F. Gates, and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2018.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Charles Russell Shaffer and John Allen Shaffer.  She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Greta Hagenah.

Mrs. Gates was a 1955 graduate of Northwestern High School in Mendon.  She worked as a beautician for twenty years, later working at BHA in Slater for seventeen years.  Following her retirement, she and her sister worked at Walmart in Marshall.  She was of the Lutheran faith.
