The District Optimist Oratorical Contest was held recently in Sedalia, and several local students did well in the competition.

Andrea Gooden, representing the Marshall Morning Optimist Club, placed first in the event.

Michelle Lin, representing the Mid-Day Optimist Club of Marshall, placed second.

Both students now advance to the State Competition, which will be held in May.

Lauren Riley and Piper Brunson also competed in the district competition, representing the clubs from Marshall.
