Mid States Materials is proposing the opening of a new quarry in Saline County, south of I-70 off of J-Hwy. This company, based out of Topeka, Kansas, has leased an extension to their existing permit to conduct mining activities from April 22, 2024, to January 1, 2124, under a 100-year lease agreement. This expansion involves mining of limestone on a 480-acre parcel of land.

Due to public interest, a public informational meeting regarding the new quarry will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Martin Community Center in Marshall. Representatives from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Mid State Materials will be present to answer any and all questions regarding this proposal.

The public is encouraged to attend and comment at this meeting.
