The Kansas City Royals defeated the Oakland Athletics 5-3 on Saturday, May 18. The game was tied 2-2 early, but the Royals scored runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh
to take the lead for good. Salvador Perez drove in two runs with a single. Kyle Isbel homered, and Vinnie Pasquantino and Nelson Velazquez also drove in runs for the Royals, who have takenthe first two in the series. Seth Lugo went 5 ⅔ innings, giving up two runs while striking out ten batters. James McArthur picked up the save with a scoreless ninth.
The Royals improve to 28-19 on the season, and are 1.5 games back from Guardians for the AL Central lead.
