
The Sedalia Police Department arrested a second suspect related to a shooting the occurred in April 2024.
Officers and detectives responded to the 400 block of North Prospect Avenue in regards to a reported shooting on April 9, 2024. Officers found a victim with a gunshot would who was ultimately flown to Columbia for treatment. A suspect was developed and detectives were able to get a warrant for his arrest. 23-year-old Bear Hagston was arrested by the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in April.
In late May, the victim passed away due to her injuries.
Sedalia detectives were able to develop a second suspect and a warrant was issued for their arrest. During a month’s long investigation working with detectives with the Columbia Police Department, it was determined the second suspect was living in
Sedalia. Detectives with the Crime Resolution Unit and Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force were granted a search warrant to look for the suspect. Sedalia Police and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force arrested 29-year-old Kyle Henley while executing the search warrant on June 4, 2024.
Both Hagston and Henley are now being charged with murder in the first degree.
