The Kansas City Royals got off to a good start in the second half with a 7-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday, July 19.

Kansas City got on the board in the first inning after Bobby Witt Jr. lined a solo homer, his 17th of the season. Witt drove in another run in the third with a single.

The Royals broke the game open in the fifth, scoring five runs to take a 7-0 lead.

Michael Wacha went seven scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while striking out seven in the winning effort.

The White Sox got on the board in the eighth, but it was too little, too late as Kansas City claimed its first win in the second half.
