
Elroy Loyd Schroeder, 88, formerly of LaMonte, MO, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at LaMonte Christian Church, with Pastor Alan Morse officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Born November 25, 1935, near Knob Noster, MO, to Carl Henry Schroeder and Myrtle Marie (Bruns) Schroeder. He was raised in the Knob Noster area and was a 1953 graduate of Knob Noster High School. He briefly worked at the mower factory in Warrensburg, MO and cleared snow. On November 27, 1954, he married Mary Lorene Clark at Mt Zion Christian Church near Sweet Springs, MO. Elroy and Mary moved to Pettis County in the spring of 1955 when he began farming. Elroy enjoyed farming and raising livestock. He was very active in his church, LaMonte Christian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent. Previously he had served on the Mt Zion Christian Church Board. He served on the Mt Zion Cemetery Board for about 65 years. He also served on the R-1 School Board and the Public Water Supply District #1 Board.
Elroy enjoyed being involved with his family and helping people in the community.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary of 49 years on August 10, 2004; an infant son, Scott Neal Schroeder on January 23, 1961; his brother, Floyd Schroeder; sister-in-law, Doris Schroeder; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Lillian Lunsford; grandson-in-law, Bud Mott; and nephew, John Schroeder.
Survivors include his children: Janice (Larry) Douty of Overland Park, KS, Teresa (Ken) Clausen of LaMonte, MO, Anita (Ken) Baude of Estero, FL, Kim (Ken) Harding of Knob Noster, MO, Troy (Diana) Schroeder of LaMonte, MO, and Eric (Julie) Schroeder of Lee’s Summit, MO; 17 grandchildren: Gwen Mott, Chad Douty, Stephen Douty, Shannon Hall, Amber Breshears, Tina Rodriguez, Mitch Harding, Mikayla Cox, Alex Schroeder, Andrew Schroeder, Aaron Schroeder, Chelsea Klesner, Blake Schroeder, Kelby Schroeder, Keton Schroeder, Karson Schroeder, and Kali Schroeder; by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Marian Schroeder of Sedalia, MO; and eight nephews and two nieces.
