The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a pair of wrecks in North Central Missouri on Saturday, both involving teenagers and all-terrain vehicles.
Two 19-year-old men suffered moderate injuries after running off the road in eastern Livingston County around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. The patrol reports that Aiden Foster of Hale and Cooper Murphy of Chula were each riding ATVs east on County Road 230, when both failed to stop at the intersection with County Road 277. The two ran off the end of the roadway and traveled through a fence. Troopers say both men were thrown off their vehicles, with Foster striking a guidewire. The two were taken to a nearby hospital, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Earlier on Saturday, a teenager from Meadville suffered serious injuries after colliding with a deer. The patrol reports that the unnamed 15-year-old was riding an ATV south on Crow Road just south of Route 36, when he struck a deer at around 2:20 a.m. The collision sent the teen off the vehicle, resulting in the serious injuries. He was flown to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment.
Troopers responding to both incidents say none of the teens were wearing the proper safety gear.
