
The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Sedalia man for drug trafficking on Thursday, August 22.
According to a probable cause statement, detectives with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department observed a vehicle driven by Jonathaon O’Shea traveling east on Highway 50 at La Monte. The vehicle crossed the right line on the shoulder several times before deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. O’Shea was confirmed to a have a suspended drivers license.
Deputies spoke with O’Shea and his passenger, asking them where they were, and confirmed their stories did not match. Authorities called in K9 support to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle, which alerted to the presence of drugs. Deputies searched the vehicle and found a brown paper bag with a glass pipe with methamphetamine as well as chunks of raw fentanyl that weighed over the statutory amount for trafficking. O’Shea does have prior convictions for drug-related offenses.
O’Shea has been charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $150,000 cash or surety.
