A Sedalia man suffered serious injuries after he a struck by a vehicle running a red light Tuesday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the accident north of Sedalia just after 7 p.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 65. According to troopers, 62-year-old Charles Lawson was northbound at the intersection with Rebar Road when an SUV driven by 21-year-old David Cosurco of Hughesville failed to stop at the red light for the southbound lanes and struck Lawson’s pickup. Cosurco’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a light pole. Lawson was taken to a nearby hospital, while Cosurco had no reported injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
