A homegrown player with Sporting Kansas City is on his way to Belgium.

The Major League Soccer franchise announced Wednesday morning the transfer of 21-year-old defender Kayden Pierre to Racing Genk in the Belgian Pro League. The Michigan native joined Sporting’s academy in 2018 and made his debut for SKC II in September 2020. Pierre made his MLS debut in 2022 and has started in nine games this season, recording an assist in Sporting’s 2-0 home win over Austin in June.

In addition to an undisclosed fee, SKC will receive a sell-on fee should Pierre make another transfer.
