A Moberly man suffered serious injuries after his dump truck ran off the side of a state highway in Knox County on Tuesday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the one-vehicle accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Route 6 about three miles east of Hurdland. Troopers say that 51-year-old Shane Whitacre was in the westbound lane when he went off the right side of the roadway. Upon returning to the road, Whitacre overcorrected and overturned his truck, then ran off the left side of the road. Whitacre was flown to a Columbia hospital.
