The Marshall Public Schools Board of Education has hired Michael Varner as the new High School Boys Basketball coach.

The board reached the decision following a closed session on Tuesday, September 10. Marshall Activities Director Kelly Callanan says he is excited to see Varner get back into coaching.

Varner takes over for Lane Titus, who finished 10-17 last season with the Owls. Callanan says he was sad to see Titus go and was proud of his work with the program.

Varner also serves as the Custodian Director for MPS. The High School Basketball season begins November 19 for Marshall.
