Marshall Public Schools became aware of another potential social media threat on Tuesday, September 17, and took necessary measures to ensure the safety of students.

After some investigating, police confirmed the threat did not come from Marshall, but a neighboring district at best. It specified the threat was to “MHS”. Administration was still unsure if the message meant Marshall High School. MPS Superintendent Caleb Petet tells KMMO News that the high school went into a soft lockdown and exercised caution while releasing students.

Petet explained that it appears the threat did not come locally, but the school district still navigates these threats with an abundance of caution.

MPS is promising to keep parents and the community informed if there are any further updates. KMMO will update this story if more information becomes available.

MPS had to deal with a similar threat on Friday, September 13.
