The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to two fatal crashes in Johnson County this weekend.

Troopers were called just before 11 p.m. Friday to a head-on collision in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 50, just past the Route Z intersection.  Troopers say an SUV driven by 45-year-old Peter Goss of Kansas was going westbound when it collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by 65-year-old Kevin Wilson of Lee’s Summit. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene, while Goss suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Kansas City area hospital.

A Windsor woman lost her life after her vehicle crossed the center line of Route 23 south of Knob Noster on Saturday afternoon.  The Patrol reports that 76-year-old Patricia Malone was driving her SUV south at around 4:45 p.m., when near the intersection of SE 725th Road, the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and the path of a pickup driven by 34-year-old Jessica Lindsay of Lincoln. The two vehicles collided head-on. Malone was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lindsay was taken to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Troopers say that Lindsay was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
