The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved several budget items during its meeting on Monday, September 23.
The board first reviewed amendments to the city’s 2023-2024 budget. The amendments in the budget included an increase of $368,635 in expenses, and an increase of $5,217,971 in revenue. The increase in expenses was due to the rising costs of supplies, medical benefits, and a sewer project.
After approving the amendments, the board then considered a bill to approve the 2024-2025 budget. The expenses in the 2024-2025 budget total out to $25,762,450.
The board approved the budget, which will go in effect on October 1.
