Marceline’s city council has approved an update to their contract conducting an inventory of the city’s water service lines.

At last week’s meeting, the council approved the change in their agreement with Hydrovac of Missouri to determine whether each customer in the city still has lead in their system. City manager Jesse Wallis says residents should not expect any disruption to their service when the inventory begins.

The inventory follows the implementation of new state and federal requirements for public water systems to inform a customer if their line contains lead.

Also at last week’s meeting, Marceline’s city council considered whether or not to change their regular meeting date. After discussion, council agreed to leave their meetings on the second Wednesday of the month.
