Odessa Mayor Bryan Barner presented a proclamation for World Polio Day during the Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday, October 14.

This was an initiative from Rotary International, which proclaims Thursday October 24 as World Polio Day. City Administrator Shawna Davis also mentioned that the Rotary Club of Odessa will be holding a Boot Block in downtown Odessa on Saturday, October 19 to raise funds for Polio awareness.

In other news, the board approved a bill to clean up an ordinance regarding the Finance Committee. The bill repeals a section of the city’s ordinance referring to this specific committee as the Auditing Committee. Davis said the board approved this bill to make sure the language of the ordinance matched the function of the committee.

The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12.
