Greg Schmidt recently marked his 6,000th game Friday night, calling Concordia’s 42-6 victory over I-70 rivals Sweet Springs in eight-man football Friday, Oct. 18.

Many of Schmidt’s games have seen his wife Ruth by his side. He tells KMMO that Ruth has been a sounding board for him over the years.

Schmidt recounts one time Ruth played an integral part of a broadcast, when he was unable to set up his broadcast equipment in the gym at a conference tournament in Grain Valley.

Before next Friday’s Game of the Week, Schmidt turns his attention to volleyball with the Class One, District 14 tournament beginning Tuesday at Concordia.
